So this wedding was actually back in the spring time, so the temperature in Mexico was not super hot. And why we took, so long to post this is because we sorta waiting for a special time to post it. And I guess with it being autumn in the northeast and the temperature starting to go down, some beach wedding photos can help everyone dream of warmer places.
Anyway, this wedding was probably one of my favorite. Not only did I get to travel to Mexico, but the couple is super fun and all their guests were really cool. Because of the nature of their work, Jen and Peter have worked all over the world and the friends and family that attended their wedding were also from around the around. So to accommodate everyone, Jen and Peter had to find a location that was accessible for everyone (i.e. had a semi-major international airport nearby) but also had an “off the grid” feeling that would allow everyone to relax and take a mini vacation from their busy lives. They settled upon a small island off the coast of Mexico called Isla Holbox (pronounced “Hol-bosh”). There, they reserved an eco-friendly resort called Villas Flamingos. For me, living in the NYC area and going to Isla Holbox was a very welcome trip. Seldom do I have the opportunity to really get away from civilization. I mean, the main mode of transportation on the island are not even cars, but golf carts. And Isla Holbox has become known as one of the better places to swim with whale sharks. I didn’t get to do it, b/c it wasn’t the right time of the year and the sharks were not migrating yet.
As for the resort, Villa Flamingos, their staff was amazing!!! And no, I’m not paid to say any of this. But the staff was truly on point. They took care of everything for Jen and Peter and everyone working there were all very very friendly! They even surprised the couple with a pair of bride and groom pinatas.
Anyway, back to the wedding, the ceremony took place just before sunset and offered an amazing view of the beach and ocean! And their reception took place on the pool deck! It was a pretty perfect setting for a chill relaxed wedding.
Note: In full disclosure, per the request of the marrying couple, we have limited the number of photos that we are posting. So you will not see any of the candids or photos that we typically post. Also, Jen and Peter may or may not be their real names. I may have just chosen really common names to fool you. 😛
