You may remember this awesome couple from their London Engagement Shoot early last month. They just recently tied the knot in stylish fashion and here’s a quick preview of their low key wedding. Look for their full blog post in about a week or two.
There are so many reasons that the guys here at Esvy are mustering up intense levels of excitement during this time of the year. Not only are we going to share BBQ charred burgers and hot dogs on the poolside amongst friends and family with the welcoming of summer, but there are other reasons we’re all smiles from ear to ear. One of them is a few weeks in the making when the fabulous folks of Jezebel magazine approached us asking to feature Jobel and Joer’s AMAZING wedding from this past fall. We quickly sifted through our photo archive and sent over a few photo hightlights from that day. Like an Apple fan on the eve of the next iPhone release, we were anxious for the May issue to materialize and to get our hands on it. You guys can go to your local newsstand and grab yourself a copy, or check it out on Jezebel’s website or mobile app!
Meet our friends Melanie and Heri… As self-proclaimed Star Wars geeks, we were thrilled to be in like minded company when Heri showed us his R2-D2 cake. How fun!
Also don’t forget to check out more photos from Melanie & Heri’s preview post.

“Fun and relaxed…We just want to have really good time at our wedding.”
That’s what Jackie and Ryan told me when I first met them last year. This laid-back couple knows how to live life without getting stressed out, and they wanted their wedding to be a simple affair. It was important to them to be surrounded by all of their friends and family, and people from all over the country came into Houston to help them celebrate. It was one of our favorite, stress-free weddings.
Also, you may also remember Jackie and Ryan from their engagement shoot in New York City.

Here at Esvy we care most about our clients; we want the best photographic and customer results possible. We know sometimes working with a photographer may seem scary or foreign so we thought we’d start a monthly feature that offers various tips for people to know before their photo shoot or event. Whether an engagement session, wedding, or studio portraits our tips will help you feel more confident and comfortable working with your photographer and should yield the best photos possible.

Now get ready for our first tip…
We don’t always photograph the preparation of the bride, but when we do, we prefer to use natural light. The process of getting ready for your wedding, particularly the application of makeup, truly looks best when photographed using natural light. Brides and their bridesmaids look the most natural compared to the sometimes harsh feeling made by artificial lighting. Window light just makes for better photos.
We know that a lot of makeup artists bring their own light setup. Unfortunately, from a photography perspective, this is not ideal. These small light setups don’t usually put out enough light, and they are not the most flattering for a bride; they tend to be harsh uneven compared to the soft even light from a nearby window.
It’s a different story if you happen to be at a large salon or makeup artist’s studio getting ready for your big day. Their professional stations are often times equipped with a mirror full of high output daylight balanced bulbs. These bulbs are known to be flattering in a similar way to natural light.
The photos above are some shots of past clients photographed under window light. You’ll notice that in both, the natural light really makes these photos work.

A while back we had a great opportunity to do a photo shoot at the House of Blues. So we gathered up some really awesome wedding vendors together and we put together a little editorially styled photo shoot. We planned everything for the shoot from the dresses to the styling in a few short weeks and the final result turned out really great! We’re really grateful to have worked with such talented people. Everyone did a spectacular job!! A BIG THANK YOU, again, to the team for all of their hard work and efforts.
We and the other vendors would love your feedback, so please leave a comment below.

Atlanta in October is a beautiful time of the year. It was a picture perfect day where everything was just so splendid from the beautiful couple, to the flowers, to the dress, to the church and to the great view of Midtown Atlanta and the great atmosphere at the reception that the Georgian Terrace created that day. Everything just seem to flow so gracefully, like a well written love song i.e any love song written by Bon Jovi (our favorite only to Peter Cetera). And don’t lie, you love their songs too!

Something Borrowed, Something Blue: Jobel’s “something borrowed” was a University of Florida Gator garter from her best friend/Matron of Honor. It was fitting because Joer (her husband) and her went to rival schools. He is an alumni of University of Georgia Bulldog and she’s a Florida Gator….. hmm can you see the love/hate there?
To make the day even more special Jobel’s “Something Blue” was a blue-beaded coin purse that belonged to her grandmother when she was 15 years old. It’s always good to give a nod to your family and incorporate something that was passed down through the years.
How’s the winter treating you so far? Not enough snow? Want more snow days? Or are you looking forward to the summer? Hopefully these photos of Aria and James’ wedding from the early fall will bring warm thoughts during these cold days.
Aria and James wedding was just a couple weeks after Hurricane Irene, which did quite a bit of damage to the east end of Long Island. Fortunately for Aria and James, the Salt Air Farm was able to clean things up in time for their wedding. You could not have asked for a better day: a fun, laid back farm wedding capped off with roasted marshmallows and an open fire. We had a great time photographing this wedding!

A while back we did this pretty fun bridal photoshoot at the House of Blues. Originally the photos from this shoot were intended for a publication, but unfortunately, that opportunity fell through. We had a great team to work with and here’s a teaser video of the photo shoot.
A big thanks to our friend Rolando at Imagine Videos for putting this together!

In the spirit of reflecting on a pretty awesome and, mind you a super fast year, we’ve decided to look back and reflect on what we feel are the top 10 images from 2011… err… well, let’s say 13 images. We had a tough time deciding on the top 10. What do you think? Do you have another favorite from 2011?
