It’s the moment you all have been waiting for, the announcement of our Engagement Shoot Contest finalists! First, thank you to everyone who entered. We loved all of your ideas and feel honored that you shared your stories with us. We had a difficult time narrowing the running down to five finalists, but YOU, our readers, will have the hardest time of all. It’s up to you who will win the free engagement shoot with us.
Be sure to check back in with us throughout the rest of February to read more about each of the finalists. We will feature each couple throughout the voting period, which ends Sunday, March 11. And don’t forget! Our winner will be announced Thursday, March 15!
Now enough from us! Here are the finalists (in random order)…

My fiance and I have a love of craft beer and have been trying to put together an engagement shoot that would show our love for one another over our love for beer. We would love to be photographed at a Long Island brewery (there are several to choose from!) brewing beer, tasting beer and perhaps picking hops/grains/ingredients (if possible). Not only would a photo shoot covering us at brewery be different but it will definitely be fun! I would love to see Esvy make something that’s creative but messy, glamorous and lovely!

Hello Esvy! I am in love with this contest idea. Here’s my creative engagement shoot concept: My fiancé Jason and I met on our college sailing team and are getting married in Amagansett, NY on Oct 6. In fact, we are getting married at the yacht club where I learned to sail. I’d like to recreate our flirtation on the water by taking out the yacht clubs’ little boats (that I learned to sail on!), donning those silly orange life jackets, and going for a romantic (and humorous) sail together, perhaps at sunset, which is the most beautiful time of day there. The playfulness of the event, and the involvement of the very activity that brought us together, would be a perfect way to capture what we’re all about.

Our wedding is meant to invoke the grandeur of The Great Gatsby era. We are not into cheesy flappers and corny gangster 1920′s imagery. Rather we are inspired by the opulence and extravagance of the time. We are getting married at The de Serversky Mansion in Old Westbury which is one of Long Island’s Gold Coast mansions from this era. Our photo shoot should play into these themes. I would love to see pictures of us at prohibition era speakeasy or jazz club. An outdoor shoot on a boardwalk a la Boardwalk Empire could be great too.

Hello Esvy Photography, my fiance and I are having a 1940s inspired wedding, complete with vintage entertainment and a brass band. We would love to incorporate that era into our engagement shoot! My love for that time stems from being raised by my grandparents. Old movies were a staple in my childhood television viewing. I fell in love with the glamour as well as the simplicity of the time often portrayed in movies of that era. We would love for our marriage to be like those of our grandparents; a simple 1940s kind of love. That is what we would like to carry through into our engagement shoot. I think what makes my fiance and I unique is our versatility and enthusiasm. We are up for anything! I can envision doing the shoot in a historical locale, like playful Coney Island, or the drama of an old New York theatre. Perhaps even a simple vintage picnic set in the beautiful Planting Fields Arboretum. I would love to incorporate some vintage family heirlooms into the shoot. The great thing about our theme is that it is very versatile. We are willing to go the full fledged “Hollywood Glam” route or the more laid back vintage route. We are confident that these pictures will come out beautifully and really showcase our personalities. Good luck to all the brides and grooms, may the best idea win! Congratulations on your upcoming marriages.

My fiance is a NYC firefighter. I would love to do an engagement shoot in the firehouse. We could take pictures on the trucks, dressed up in his gear which has his last name on the back, or even him rescuing me using the big ladder. He is proud of his job and so am I. I think it would be a fun twist for an engagement shoot.
